Mary Louise Bailey Harman

Mary, Jeremy's Mom, passed away after an eight year battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma on April 17th, 2008. Her funeral was on Sunday. Jeremy dedicated the Grave. We miss her very much, but are comforted to know that she no longer feels the pain that has been constant for the last couple of years. We draw comfort to know that she is freed from illness and participates in a great work across the veil teaching her family the gospel. Her smile and encouraging words will be greatly missed. We have an important responsibility to teach Grace and Tyler about how wonderful their grandma Harman is and to teach them the things that we have learned from her. She had the ability to love others despite their circumstance without judgment. She could find the little ways to serve others that made a lasting tremendous impact. Since Mary's illness, we have pondered the important role of a parent in passing down the important truths of the gospel, and life in general, that we have learned from our parents. We hope that we can teach Grace and Tyler the gospel truths that Mary centered her life around.

About a year ago, mom was out shopping and found a framed quotation that she truly loved because it mirrored her exact views on her illness. The quotation is...

Cancer is so limited ... It cannot cripple love,
It cannot shatter hope,
It cannot corrode faith,
It cannot eat away at peace,
It cannot destroy confidence,
It cannot kill friendship,
It cannot shut out memories,
It cannot invade the soul,
It cannot reduce eternal life,
It cannot quench the spirit,
It cannot lessen the power of the resurrection.

We find comfort knowing that Mom is in the presence of our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. We know that through the power of the Atonement we will be able to be with her again as an eternal family unit. We feel so blessed for the restored gospel and for the temple blessings that we enjoy.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers, calls, cards, and flowers. We feel so blessed to have such a great family and network of fantastic friends!
